The Cubs takes 2 out of 3 from the Mariners

After yesterdays heartbreaking loss in the 11th inning the Seattle Mariners look to win two out of three against the Chicago Cubs. They send Jeremy Bonderman to the mound. Bonderman has been doing a good job as of late despite his 1-1 3.30 era record.

The 1st inning starts as ex-Mariner Luis Valbuena steps into the batter’s box where he pops up to Endy Chavez. Next up is Starlin Castro who hits a ground ball to Nick Franklin. Nate Schierholtz comes up and hits a fly balls to Endy Chavez to end the top of the inning. The Mariners half of the inning starts with Endy Chavez stepping up to the plate where he hits a double. Nick Franklin is next and he strikes out. That brings up Raul Ibanez where he hits a sacrifice fly moving Chavez to third. Kendrys Morales hits a ground ball to second to end the inning.

The 2nd inning sees Alfonso Soriano up and he hits a double. Anthony Rizzo is next and hits a double to score Soriano to make it 1-0 Cubs. Dioner Navarro is next and he hits a ground ball to Nick Franklin. Brian Bogusevic is up next and gets an RBI double to make it 2-0 Cubs. That brings up Darwin Barney who hits and RBI double. Welington Castillo steps into the batter’s box where he strikes out. Luis Valbuena steps in for his second at bat and hits a fly ball to Jason Bay to end the top of the inning. Kyle Seager starts the Mariners half of the inning where he hits a ground ball for the first out. Justin Smoak is next and he hits a ground ball to the first baseman. Jason Bay steps up and he hits a fly ball to center to end the 2nd.

The 3rd starts as Starlin Castro steps up to the plate and he hits a fly ball for out one. Nate Schierholtz steps up where he is hit by a pitch. That brings up Alfonso Soriano who strikes out. Anthony Rizzo steps in for his second at bat and he walks to give the Cubs two runners without a base hit. Dioner Navarro walks up to the plate where he walks to load the bases. That brings up Brian Bogusevic who hits a fly ball to Raul Ibanez to end the top of the inning. Brad Miller leads off for the Mariners and he hits a ground ball for out number one. Henry Blanco steps up to the plate where he gets a single. That brings up Endy Chavez and he hits a double to give the Mariners two on base. That brings up Nick Franklin who hits a ground ball for an out but Blanco scores to make it 3-1 Cubs. Raul Ibanez is up and he strikes out to end the 3rd.

Darwin Barney leads of for the Cubs in the 4th and he gets a double. That brings up Welington Castillo and Kyle Seager commits an error letting the ball go into left field and Castillo goes to second while Barney scores. Back to the top of the order for Luis Valbuena who hits a ground ball for the first out. Starlin Castro steps into the batter’s box where he hits an RBI single. Blake Beavin takes over the pitching duties with the Cubs leading 5-1 in the 4th. Nate Schierholtz steps in and he hits a fly ball to Jason Bay. Alfonso Soriano steps up to the plate where he hits an RBI double to make it 6-1 Cubs. Anthony Rizzo is next and he hits an RBI single scoring Soriano. Dioner Navarro steps up to the plate and he hits a ground ball to finally end the top of the inning. Kendrys Morales steps in as the Mariners try to come back from a 7-1 deficit and he strikes out. Kyle Seager is up next where he strikes out. Justin Smoak steps in to the batter’s box and he walks to first. Smoak takes second on a wild pitch. That brings up Jason Bay who lines out to end the 4th.

Brian Bogusevic start off the 5th for the Cubs and he hits a ground ball for the first out. Darwin Barney is next and he hits a fly ball to Endy Chavez. That brings up Welington Castillo who strikes out to end the top of the inning. Brad Miller starts off the 5th for the Mariners and he hits a double for his first major league hit. That brings up Henry Blanco who hits a ground ball for out number one. Endy Chavez is up next and strikes out. Nick Franklin is up next and he gets an RBI single. Raul Ibanez steps up to the plate where he hits a ground ball to end the 5th.

Luis Valbuena starts the 6th and he strikes out. Starlin Castro steps in and strikes out. Nate Schieroltz is next as he gets a single. That brings up Alfonso Soriano who hits a fly ball to Jason Bay to end the top of the 6th. Kendrys Morales starts the Mariners half of the inning and he strikes out. Kyle Seager is up next where he hits a fly ball for out two. Justin Smoak steps up and he hit a ground ball to end the 6th.

Anthony Rizzo will lead off the 7th and he grounds out. Dioner Navarro is next and grounds out. That brings up Brian Bogusevic who grounds out to end the top of the inning. Jason Bay starts the Mariners half of the inning who hits a home run to make it 7-3 Cubs. That brings up Brad Miller who hits a double. Henry Blanco is the next batter who strikes out for the first out in the inning. Back to the top of order for Endy Chavez flies out. Nick Franklin steps in and he hits a ground ball to end the 7th.

Darwin Barney leads off the 8th for the Cubs and strikes out. Welington Castillo is up next where he pops up to Nick Franklin. Back to the top of the order for Luis Valbuena who hits a fly ball to Jason Bay to end the top of the inning. Raul Ibanez is up first in the Mariners half of the inning and he hits his 19th home run of the season. Kendrys Morales is up and he hits a single. Kyle Seager steps up to the plate where he hits a 2-run homer to make it a one run game. Justin Smoak steps up to the plate who flies out. That brings up Jason Bay who walks down to first. Jason Bay goes to second on a wild pitch to Brad Miller. Brad Miller steps up next and he walks. Mike Zunino pinch hits for Henry Blanco and he pops out. That brings up Endy Chavez who grounds out to end the 8th.

Tom Wilhelmsen takes over the pitching duties for the Mariners in the 9th. Starlin Castro starts off and he flies out to Jason Bay. Nate Schierholtz steps up to the plate and grounds out. That brings up Alfonso Soriano who strikes out to end the top of the inning. Nick Franklin starts off the bottom of the inning for the Mariners where he strikes out. Raul Ibanez walks up to the plate and he grounds out. Kendrys Morales is the Mariners last hope and he strikes out to end the game. Final score 7-6 Cubs.
